Omphalos

exhibitions

April 2005 Kudos Gallery, Sydney

An interactive sound installation based on the ancient oracle of Delphi in Greece.

for more information and sounds see official website

Original work on this project began in 1990, but the project in this current manifestation began 3 years ago. The project is in a prototype stage, and requires further development before a first exhibition.

The urns were hand thrown by Neville Assad-Salha in his studio outside of the Barossa Valley in South Australia.

The sound design is composed purely from recorded and treated voice, with the exception of the sound of the Kastalian Spring, recorded on site at Delphi in 2002. The divinatory aspect of the work is derived from a simple tarot reading. Interactive elements were programmed by Adam Hinshaw and Alex Davies.
